The Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MP visits the CSEPR for the Top Service program

On August 13th, 2014, the Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MP, Mr. Pierre Lemieux, was at the Centre for a press conference concluding the Top Service Program. For the event, Hawkesbury Mayor, Mr. René Berthiaume, was also present to learn about the financing and results of the program.

The Top Service Program is an exclusive program put together by the Employment Services Centre, and aimed at providing a paid training, including on-the-job training, in sales and customer service to 20 young individuals aged from 15 to 30 years old from the Prescott-Russell area. Throughout the program, young participants have acquired 490 hours of work experience and 90 hours of training. In concluding the program, 16 out of 20 participants are currently employed and 1 will return to school to acquire a higher education. Quite a success for this program !

During the press conference, several speakers presented the benefits they received from the program. A testimony from Mrs. Nathalie Ranger, from the Moi j'apprends Centre, one of the training partners for the initiative, informed us that the training put together for this program is now used for other projects. Followed Mrs. Marie-Josée Constantin, from Canadian Tire in Rockland who shared her satisfaction towards the program, but also towards the Centre's team, and the importance of such projects for our community. Then Karianne Simard, participant of the Top Service program, told the group that she knows the training and experience she received through the program will benefit her for her entire career and that she is now going back to school to acquire a higher education.

The Glengarry-Prescott-Russell MP, Mr. Pierre Lemieux, concluded the presentation in saying that he was very pleased to know that young Canadians from Prescott-Russell benefit from initiatives of the Federal Government which aim at pairing young people with employment. He also mentioned that since 2006, the Federal Government has invested over half a million dollars in helping young Canadians aquire skills they need to succeed in the labour market.

The Employment Services Centre is very proud of the the Top Service program results, and wishes to thank all participants, partners and its funder for their contribution in making a success story with this program.
